Computer
My main tool is my portable computer. I take it with me everywhere. I need it to write, to record data collected in the forest, but also to answer my email! I have to answer questions from students in the field and communicate with colleagues all around the world.
For example, I wrote an article with people in Europe, New Zealand, Australia and China, without ever having met them. All our discussions took place by email!
