Glossary - Gymnosperm
Plant that produces seeds that are not enclosed within plant tissue. Literally, producing "naked seeds", not enclosed in an ovary and not protected in a fruit.
Plant belonging to a group of seed-bearing plants (Spermatophytes) that includes conifers, cycads, Ginkgo and Gnetales.
