Glossary - Growth ring
Cumulative layers of cells produced during a single growing season and characteristically containing earlywood (spring) and latewood (summer) cells of different look and colour.
Growth rings are only visible in trees and shrubs growing in climate with a dormant season, such as a dry season or a winter.
