In fact, Hyperion, a Coast redwood in California, is the tallest tree in the world, with a height of 115.55 m (in 2006). However, the tallest tree ever measured was a eucalyptus, a Tasmanian giant gum tree, that toppled following a brush fire in 1872. It was 132.6 m tall.
