Wrong Answer

We can see on this sample that the first fire destroyed 75% of the pine's cambium. The surviving quarter continued to grow for 15 years. A second fire damaged the right portion, but the tree survived and continued to grow for several decades. The particularly thick bark of the red pine protects it from fires of low intensity.
